Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Impact
In an increasingly unequal and challenging world, being agents of change and socially responsible individuals is not enough. It is also necessary to involve the business world, employees, and the actions that underpin any type of change, whether social, labor-related, and/or within the community where one lives and operates.
One of the many consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic concerns the distancing between people and, consequently, work teams that need and are used to being in constant contact. As a result, there has also been an increased importance placed on the well-known teambuilding activities within companies, as initiatives that greatly contribute to the personal, social and professional development of employees.
In this context, one of the trends observed in 2021 and likely to continue in 2022 is the increase in actions developed within the scope of corporate social responsibility, not only because individuals need to reconnect with one another, but also to recover and boost levels related to their sense of belonging, recognition in the workplace and commitment to corporate and community culture. However, the impact of these actions tends to focus more on the real benefits for employees and less on the community or ecosystem in which they take place, leaving behind the benefits and opportunities that certain activities promoted by companies can bring to specific groups of people or institutions.
Can a one-day action really have no impact on people’s lives?
Social impact assessment is particularly important and relevant when we aim to understand the social changes resulting from certain activities over a given period, usually in the medium to long term. However, some actions can completely transform certain realities and, before planning an initiative of this nature, one of the first concerns should be the analysis of the problem that is intended to be solved or, at least, alleviated. It is in this sense that actions like these, developed within corporate social responsibility, must be properly designed, planned and, of course, evaluated.
What would add more value for you, as an employee and/or company director: carrying out a social responsibility action and knowing that it had positive consequences for a specific group of people, or simply doing it without understanding its real impact?
If you are planning to carry out and organize a corporate social responsibility initiative, where employees are not only volunteers but also valued and active agents of change, count on us. In addition to being specialists in social impact, we know and work with a wide network of social organizations that present various challenges that can be addressed through simple and small actions.
